My gramps taught me how to fish without a rod. He used to grow hot peppers outside his teal house in Bermuda in old yogurt containers. He’d push me on a rope swing under the rubber tree next door. I was born on an island that might as well be never-never land and moved to Brevard, North Carolina when I was young- it was just as nature rich. Nature is everything from the air we breathe to the food we eat. I love it. In college I started off at Johnson and Wales university but eventually transferred and studied biology. In grad school I was the co-founder of what would become Elk Haven Herbals - one of the few science-based herbal supplement companies. At the same time, for over a decade, I also taught at a university.
